And we are back with Part 3 of our Partner Q&A series!
For our last post we spoke with Josh at Proformance Projects regarding his experiences working with AusSteel as an Australian supplier of steel frames and trusses. Make sure you check it out (along with our other posts) if you haven’t already.
For today’s post we had a good chat with Mark at Prosperity Home about his positive experiences working with AusSteel and our Ultimate Building System. Let’s get cracking!
What initially led you to select AusSteel over other steel framing suppliers?
AusSteel was recommended to myself and Greg by a third party, to contact in regards to price comparison and to compare AusSteel’s product to our (then) current supplier of steel frames for our homes. My contact for AusSteel was Gary Dupen, who I found very easy to deal with. Gary sent the quotes back very quickly and also explained the whole process from taking the order to delivery to site. He also showed me differences in what AusSteel does that other frame companies don’t, for example truss tabs, plumbing noggins, etc. These were only a few which I was impressed by as part of their frame package and most importantly the pricing was extremely good.
Are there any features or points of difference with AusSteel or AusSteel’s Ultimate Building System that are particularly important to you and your company?
Just the overall package with all the extra bits and pieces supplied from start to finish is great. After installing their first 3 jobs since changing to AusSteel, our carpenters now believe that AusSteel frames are “number 1” to erect and are very easy to install.
After using AusSteel supply, have you ever left AusSteel in favour of another supplier? And if so, what was the reason you returned?
Yes. To be honest, the other steel frame supplier completely stuffed up the detailing of frames, and there were multiple items missing from the frame package. For example, short screws for fixing, short ceiling battens, etc. We soon cancelled orders with the existing frame supplier and returned to AusSteel for the remainder of jobs. AusSteel to the current day now supplies 100% all our frames wherever we are building.
In your opinion, has AusSteel continued and/or improved its quality of product and service in the time AusSteel has been your preferred supply partner? Are there any improvements you would like to see moving forward?
Since we have been using AusSteel frames and trusses, AusSteel has constantly been in touch with myself, supervisors, and office staff to solve any problems that may pop up on site at times, and answer any questions that are directed to any area of their business from anyone in our company. AusSteel has also improved their product in multiple areas, as we have asked for solutions to problems we have come across or have asked them to make changes to their product to improve it. AusSteel has always done this without question and has always been beneficial to both our companies.
If there was one sentence that described our supply relationship, what would it be?
Of extremely high standard, extremely proactive from both sides and extremely beneficial to both companies.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
It has been a pleasure dealing with all the AusSteel team over the past couple of years. A special thanks, I must say, is to Gary Dupen who I have found to be one of the most delightful people to deal with over the last 41 years I have been involved in the building industry. I could not ask for any better working relationship since my involvement with AusSteel from the very beginning.
Thanks for your kind words and honest feedback, Mark! It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Prosperity Home.
