Why is it often quicker to build a home with steel framing?

When building a home, it’s understandable that the soon-to-be new homeowners want to see their build completed as quickly as possible. It may then come as a pleasant surprise to home builders that building a house with a steel framing system like AusSteel’s #ultimatebuildingsystem can be a quicker process than building a timber-framed home.

Pre-engineered precision

When engineering and fabricating framing systems for our partners and their customers, our highly skilled and experienced designers and detailers use state of the art technology and innovation to meet the job specifications with faultless precision. Our manufacturing teams then produce high quality frames and trusses that are spot on according to those designs and specifications. This means that when AusSteel framing systems arrive on site, they are precise and ready for standing.

AusSteel’s additional inclusions

On top of our innovative and efficient processes that turn out highly accurate framing systems, we have thought of – and included – every possible additional extra that makes the work of carpenters and post-installation trades (such as plumbers, electricians, etc.) that much easier, quicker, and therefore seamless. Some of these inclusions being:

  • HB brackets
  • Plumbing noggs
  • Door plates lifted
  • Setdown in joists
  • Jack locators
  • Jack bottom chords

Fewer resources required for steel framed builds

AusSteel framing systems are manufactured using the highest quality steel. One of the many benefits of this (and there are many! Check out our other blog posts to find out more) is that this makes our framing systems lighter than timber frames – by up to 50%! They also provide a strong foundation for plasterboard and insulation, and being steel, there’s no need for extra cutting or modifying by carpenters on site. All of these factors combined mean erecting AusSteel’s steel framing systems requires less resources – particularly time and workers.

One of the many reasons our partners have chosen to work with AusSteel is due to the fact that they too would like to see their customers’ builds finished as quickly as reasonably possible while maintaining excellence in the final product. At AusSteel, we really understand this desire and keep this at the forefront of our minds during not only our day-to-day processes but also when looking at bigger picture elements of design, innovation, and most importantly, customer support and satisfaction.
